Board of Academics

Why a forum?
Much has been said and written about the uniqueness of English in India. It is one of the state languages of our country. Despite the serious attempts to detract from its importance & make Hindi the only official language, it hasn’t been accomplished. But we haven’t been able to achieve a high rate of success either.

Though we have very highly qualified, experienced resource persons in the city but we do not have a common platform or forum to share our views, ideas and concerns about the academic scene in our city.

We (ATI) are trying to concentrate mainly on two aspects. Both are focused on teaching of good English. One is training existing teachers to perfect their methods & hone their skills. The other is exploiting our own resources to create an immersion programme for students to assimilate and imbibe English; breathe, speak & live an environment which would train them to learn proper English.

The Academic Forum we are planning will include other members who will advise & take us forward on our quest. It will be an independent and voluntary organization.
We plan to invite people not only from related fields or academia but also from management school backgrounds or senior professionals who will guide us.

Activities of the Board

  • The common platform we are envisaging includes a core team of approx. 25/30 professionals who are deeply involved in teaching & are concerned with spreading their experience and expertise widely.

  • We want to hold at least two conferences every year, one on an international level, the other a meeting of like minded people.

  • India is going to be on the forefront in this century & we must plan ahead to better our present record.

  • We have also planned an E magazine as a platform to share our dreams with a larger audience.

  • The next step would definitely be a language workshop sometime during the beginning or end of the summer vacation to ensure presence of active English Language Teachers to exchange ideas & generate an active participation among the members plus the group of teachers we must invite.

In Conclusion
This is only a brief sketch of the ambitious projects we have in mind. We want to make our state one of the best in the country. There is no dearth of good teachers & learners here. It is mainly the long term policy & lack of fluency that has brought matters to this state. Compared to many other states we can say on the positive side that our students are better grounded in Grammar. The awareness is there. We need to take it further by providing the right infrastructure. The groundwork has been made. Rather than focus on other countries we hope to cater to the growing demand for English in India & compete with the best and excite the learners here.
